Once again: 11 fics, this time in 11 fandoms. My main fic:

Every Sundown (10515 words) for Trismegistus
Fandom: Imperial Radch - Ann Leckie
Rating: Teen
Relationships: Seivarden/Breq
Summary:
Breq is a traitor, a rebel, and a captain a thousand years out of date. Mercy of Seivarden is drifting without a crew.

I'm always a little scared of writing Radch fic, but I love love love Breq and Seivarden's relationship! I got the idea right away to write a roleswap where Breq was the captain and Seivarden was the ship. I got really into it and ended up writing... too much. As usual it turned into a last minute panic to edit it, so thanks immensely to tweedymcgee for the beta help!

10 more fics of varying length under the cut! Vantablack pigment feud, The Happytime Murders, Megalo Box, The Way of the House Husband, Rivers of London, Inspector Rebus, Dirk Gently (TV 2016), Squirrel Girl, Transformers: Shattered Glass, and Nero Wolfe )

Hope everyone had a good Yuletide!! And if you have recs they'd be super welcome, as usual I've been too busy to really dig through the archive.

But first - my giftfic! Joanne_c wrote One Night In A Castle for me and I ADORE it and maybe you will love it too. It is Lion in Winter rpf. If you have not seen A Lion in Winter you should definitely see it. If you are not aware of the ridiculousness of the actors involved in the movie (including the late greats Peter O'Toole and Katharine Hepburn) you should check that out also.

Here is what I wrote:

Team The Best Team (5715 words), for defcontwo
Elementary (TV), Teen. Marcus Bell/Ms. Hudson/Alfredo Llamosa, Joan Watson and Sherlock Holmes
Summary: Marcus gets along really well with Holmes' friends.

My assigned fic! I wrote it in like... four days, and lyryk was super awesome and beta'd it for me. It was a lot of fun to focus on the side-characters, and it was interesting to write reasonable, practical characters who can actually just decide to go on a date instead of having to angst about it forever, haha. Also I am glad I finally got a full-sized Elementary fic off the ground, I have three in my WIPs. (Aaaand this fills my M/F/M threesome square in my idfic bingo, because I can make yuletide work for me.)

And then I wrote my 10 treat-fics on the 23rd and 24th:

And that's the lot! Going to start replying to comments tomorrow, it might take a while. Hopefully I'll get some recs in soon-ish - I'm maybe half-way through the archive right now, so it'll probably be mid-January before I'm ready for recs.

Media recs today!

Finally, music! This is not a rec per se, but SXSW is a thing and to help music peeps everywhere NPR has put together a 100 best songs list that is available for download on their website! And most of last year's 100 list is also still up for download. Hurrah for Stephen Thompson!

What have I been doing in the last tennish days? Work. All of the work. I am just keeping up with grad school and the ren faire, which I think means I'll be in a really comfortable place after this weekend, since the faire is closing. Right now is a huge pain, though - I think I'm going to have to miss a fencing practice this week, and probably some sleep too. Did I say that I started going to the club fencing here? It's fun, very chill, but with some good people. I'm still rusty from my summer doing nothing, but I'm getting more into it. Last week I fenced this guy and lost 0-5 doing dumb stuff, but I recognized that and asked him if we could fence again at the end of practice, and I won 5-0 by... not doing dumb stuff. So that's good! I worry about falling into a rut, especially when I'm tired so often.

But I do have time to do some fannish stuff! I did Yuletide nominations, with arts and sciences RPF (Kahneman and Tversky), By the Sword (obviously), and The Non-Adventures of Wonderella (because my noms needed more badass women). All approved, because I only pick fandoms that are totally out there/nonexistent.

I've stalled out a little on watching the Wire, due to lack of time, but I'm planning on picking it back up after the weekend. In the meantime, I'm reading Fullmetal Alchemist about 2-8 years late. Which is, wow, bringing back memories. Like, I hadn't read FMA before, but it was pretty much my first reading fandom way back when. I was so into Archer/Kimblee and Greed/Kimblee. Hanging out on Y!Gallery at 17, feeling guilty about hitting the 'over 18' button and compulsively searching out the Kimblee artists. He just showed up in the manga (at chapter, what, 50? Out of about 100?), and I squeaked a little.

cut a little to preserve your flist. Basically, I have developed a theory of my own fannish attachments. )
